We love fluffy bakes! But are you aware that the more fluffy a bake is, the LESS PROTEIN it contains relatively? Which means that you are consuming much more ratio of fat and carbohydrates with every bite! . When protein content increases, it binds away the moisture in the batter, the baked product becomes rock-hard and cardboard like. Which is why bakery products are rarely ever “high in protein”. It is just impractical and a nightmare to produce nutritious but terrible tasting food. . It took us a long time to crack the code, but we did! Comparing to regular muffins, the protein content doubled, while fat and carbs are reduced by 15%-70% - all while still giving you deliciously soft and fluffy muffins! . We were able to do so because we insist on not using highly processed flour that’s stripped of nutrients (including its natural protein), using our proprietary blend of plant-based protein and also making it dairy-free! No butter, no milk? Yes, dairy-free! . So much effort and grief goes behind every bake, but it’s so worth it when the results are enjoyed by our customers. Tell you a secret - we gobble a couple of muffins each time a fresh batch pops out of the oven. . We love turning your dessert dreams into guilt-free reality! . Is consuming meat going to increase my chances of getting/worsening diabetes? ❤️ . Our straight forward answer if unprocessed meat (protein) sources is concerned, “NO”. ❤️ . Reviews have observed that eating processed meat (burger patties, sausages, pre-marinated steaks and fillets) was associated with at least a 17% higher risk of contracting type 2 diabetes. . Based on a poll on 2017, more than 80% of foods found in supermarkets and F&Bs are flooded with processed foods containing huge amounts of added sugar, high in saturated fats and trans fats. This can cause them to be digested more quickly, which can spike blood sugar levels and further increase cholesterol levels. . However, the researchers did not find any higher risk of diabetes among individuals eating leaner cuts of unprocessed red meats, such beef and lamb; as well as whole food white meats, such as skinless chicken and whole-sliced salmon. . On a more conservative Lean Bento approach, white meats - cuts of (wholesome, skinless) chicken are high in protein, low in fat and nutritious salmon; can all be great ingredients in a healthy eating plan... as long as they are prepared in a truly healthy way with no added fat, minimal sugars, sodium and artificial/processed ingredients into the cooking. . Question of the Season: How do I survive all the food this Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year? ______ Most of us tend to gain weight (and fat) especially during the end-of-year holiday season. Be it traveling, or attending festive parties, it is so easy to eat anything and everything on sight. *oh no*. ______ What would Lean Bento's founder, Charles suggest to keep one's physique as lean as possible? "First of all, I acknowledge that I'm probably going to get less workouts, say 20% of my time and I'm going to eat the rest of the 80% away. So I'll focus a lot more on what I eat and how I eat. Whole foods rich in protein and whole carbs dense in fiber like what Lean Bento serves will be my first choice at any party because they are densely packed nutrients and keeps me full all the time. It reduces my urge to snack and ramps up my 40yo metabolic rate! Eat well to burn!" ______ How often can I indulge and still be part of the party? "Instead of having one full cheat day, I'll spread that into multiple cheat meals over a period of say, 7 days. E.g. one Christmas Eve dinner, one Christmas lunch, one post-Christmas lunch/dinner, one NYE dinner and finally one New Year brunch. I won't be missing the gatherings!" ______ What are the common party foods that I can go for? "I keep mostly to turkey, chicken and fish as my mains with loads of vegetables. I skip beef, lamb, carby food and keep sauces/gravies aside in exchange for the carbs and fat quota which I will consume in the form of festive fruits, cakes and cookies. I will snack on small portions of nuts and a couple of cookies without cream/icing if they are available at the table." ______ Is there anything that you would avoid? "I avoid highly processed/flavoured/sugared meats and desserts as much as possible because they make me feel sick/bloated, tax my liver and make my body accumulate fat more easily than whole food and wholegrain options. Of course there is again a huge difference between having a small serving and gorging a full serving of every item on the party table! Haha." ______ "I wish everyone a wonderful time at the festivities while being mildly conscious." ⭐️
