Join us on 9th May, 2 pm at DECK library for a book sharing session by artist, writer and researcher, Ng Hui Hsien! What Artist Read is an artist-led programme that provides the public the opportunity to hear from artists on books that inspire their practice. Ng Hui Hsien's art practice uses photography as a medium to explore themes such as consciousness, the nature of reality, (im)materiality and interconnectivity; they are sites where the unconscious can find expression, in directly or otherwise. Hui Hsien’s photographic work has been internationally exhibited at various institutions and festivals, including a solo exhibition at the Reykjavík Museum of Photography (Iceland). Her limited-edition, hand-stitched artist book – The Weight of Air – is in both public and private collections, including the New York Public Library (United States), Hellenic Centre for Photography (Greece) and Asia Pacific Photobook Archive (Australia). It is one of the featured books in How We See: Photobooks by Women (10x10 Photobooks, 2018). Hui Hsien graduated from the University of West of England with an MA in Photography (Distinction).
