There was also a dip in the number of babies born in 2020, being the lowest number since 2010. Yet, there are still those who wish to marry and have children. Marcus Cheong, partnerships manager at Focus on the Family Singapore, welcomed his second child in December last year. As work from home arrangements became normalised due to the pandemic, this made it easier for him to explore flexi-work arrangements with his employers. Working from home gave Marcus and his wife, Si Lin, more time to spend with his children, and gives them the confidence to care for a larger family in the future.
