Falling is common among the older population and is also a leading cause of injury. Not only does the prevalence of falls increase with age, one fall incident tends to result in a higher chance of an individual falling again over time due to weakened reflexes and muscles after the first fall. And the consequences of these falls for the elderly can be dangerous, as they range from minor injuries like bruises to more serious ones like fractures and disability, or even death. With the average age of our patients being 64 years old, it is even more crucial that awareness is raised about fall prevention. In this way, we can reduce the risk of elderly persons having to deal with mobility issues, loss of independence, anxiety from the fear of falling, and missed dialysis sessions, and ensure that their quality of life is not compromised.
