The demolishment of DECK - What's next? Built in 2014, DECK container art space was stacked ground-up with a vision to champion photography in the community. We are also home to the biennale Singapore International Photography Festival (SIPF). Fast forward 6 years and 6 months later, our containers have housed over 400 activities and received over 120,000 visitors, supporting the development of new works from photographers. However, with its temporary structure license coming to an end, the space now has to be demolished. The end of this container space also signals a new phase of change and growth that we eagerly anticipate to embark on. We invite you to come along with us on this exciting journey in cementing a permanent building for photography. For the next 15 months, DECK will undergo a radical transformation. More than ever, we are here to stay with our vision in cementing a new permanent building that will see light in 2022. We envision a new home that will continue to push the boundaries of photography, media-ready galleries to house year-round curated exhibitions of both local and international photographers, a Black Box for exploration of new ideas in film and digital arts, and a library of Photobooks with a research studio for writers and artists. Ultimately, it will be a communal art space for people to gather in the name of Art Photography, serving as a platform for both emerging and established artists, welcoming public members from all walks of life, embracing the diversities in our community. For this vision to take its shape, we reach out to the community. Every contribution counts, every cent is one step closer in helping us realise this new radical space. Come be a part of the new DECK, and support our Building Fund: For everyone that has their heart with DECK, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. With Love, The team at DECK
