Cinsault is a red wine grape from France’s Southern Rhone region. One of the oldest grape varieties found in Southern France, it thrives in hot, dry climates. Cinsault is used in both Provencal rosés and red wine blends (along with Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and Carignan). Many of Southern France’s most top wines are made with Cinsault which has floral and spice flavours and a somewhat smoky character. It’s dry with low tannins, medium acidity, and medium light in body. In South Africa in 1925, Cinsault was crossed with Pinot Noir to create Pinotage – which is considered the country’s signature grape variety. Cinsault was known as ‘Hermitage’ in South Africa during that era. Try our Craven Cinsault 2020 @cravenwines from Stellenbosch, South Africa which has a delicate cranberry and pomegranate bouquet. The well-balanced palate offers black currant, raspberry and cranberry leaf, and gentle tannins. Craven makes only single vineyard, single-variety wines, highlighting different terroirs around Stellenbosch. Cinsault-based blends go well with boeuf bourguignon, pork and chicken, and char-grilled vegetables. #winelover #winelovers #winetime #happyhour #winelife #singapore #singaporefoodies #yoursingapore #craven
