On 10 May, the National Environment Agency (NEA) announced that plastic bag charges might kick in at supermarkets in Singapore next year. We should start bringing our own eco bag for shopping as it saves us costs and helps reduces our carbon foot print. You’ve probably received free eco bags when shopping, but the designs are often branded or kinda of tacky. 😅 We wanted to develop a Japanese eco bag workshop for the longest but couldn’t find the right fabric designs to work with. Until Kiyohara Japan launched the Sanrio Hello Kitty Teatime Dessert Nylon Taffeta fabrics this year! 🎊 Nylon Taffeta fabrics are lightly waterproof as they are coated with a water repellent finish (imagine your umbrella fabrics). It is also easier to sew than laminated fabrics as you do not need a special footer. Thin and lightweight, it’s perfect for making foldable eco bags. And so we are very excited to introduce our latest, smallest and lightest bag project — Eco Bag エコバッグ which weighs a mere 80grams! 😆 It is not only spacious to carry your groceries and more, it can also be folded into a cute, small pouch to keep in your handbags. We’re only able to offer a few Nylon Taffeta fabric options so alternatively, you can opt to use cotton fabric instead. For more details, check out We hope we’ve motivated you to use your own “handmade” eco bags and look forward to doing this little green workshop with you soon! 🍏💚 . . . #applelulucrafts #アップルル #sgcrafter #sgworkshops #handmade #handmadeinsg #craftingsg #handmadebag #handmadepouch #bagmakers #imakemyownbag #sewing #sewingsg #ilovesewing #wemadethese #sewcialists #supportlocalsg #supportsmallbusinessestoday #handicraftsg #handmadeisheartmade #craftingismyartform #手芸 #handicraft #japanesefabrics #nylontaffeta #hellokitty #ecobag
