Spring, the end of the cold bitter winter, is a much-celebrated season in Japan. The best way to enjoy spring in Japan is Hanami or flower viewing. Besides the famous Sakura, there is another place at Mt. Fuji that is highly recommended and extremely popular with the locals as well! The Fuji-Shibazakura festival held in Kawaguchiko (Mt Fuji) celebrates the shibazakura, moss phlox. These flowers bloom near the ground and covers patches of fields in different shades of bright pink and purple with a view of Mt Fuji in the background. During the event, delicious food like the famous Fujinomiya Yakisoba is sold at the venue to compliment the beautiful views. Held from mid-April to end-May, this is perfect for those coming to Tokyo and just missed the slightly earlier Sakura bloom. There are many more places in Japan that are great for flower viewing in Spring! With a Japan Rail Pass, you can go all over the country for Hanami and enjoy some great savings too. If you would like to know more about the rail passes, feel free to contact us! JTB Singapore Website:
