This period may be difficult for some babies, so read on to find out the other symptoms and what you can do to help. 🧩 Drooling Drooling starts between 10 weeks to 4 months. Fasten on a bib to prevent shirt from getting soaked. 🧩 Teething Rash Constant drooling may cause redness or rashes. Pat away drool quickly to prevent this from happening. 🧩 Coughing / gag reflex This is normal during the teething phase due to the accumulated spit. Ensure your child has no other flu symptoms. 🧩 Biting Chewing and biting eases discomfort in teething babies' gums during the teething period. It will be good to invest in teethers to ease the discomfort, 🧩 Crying / night waking Crying and waking up in the night is normal due to inflammation of gum tissue as the teeth grow. 🧩 Irritability Your baby will have aches in his mouth, which will cause him to be more irritable than usual. 🧩 Refusing to eat Teething babies can be fussy about eating. Those eating solid foods may also refuse to eat. Expect this behaviour as it is normal. 🧩 Gum hematoma A gum hematoma refers to blood that is trapped under the gums due to a tooth's eruption 🦷. A cold compress on the gums helps to relieve pain and can help the hematoma heal faster. 🧩 Ear pulling/cheek rubbing As the gums, ears and cheeks all share neural pathways, it is normal to feel the discomfort in other areas. Allow your baby to self-soothe.
