“I started PT at @fitnessfirstsg with @jxmonxstar almost four years ago, just before I got pregnant with Andrew. This was due largely to my desire to achieve one of my life-goals of being Stacey's Mom - or at least a Stacey's Mom type of mum (you know, the acronym that is one letter away from MILK). Jerome eventually transferred to another club so we couldn't train together anymore, but here's a shout-out to him for the toned arms and 5k race I managed during my second pregna ncy. After a few trials with other PTs, I started training with Shaffiee. This was about 1.5 years ago, and it was around this time that I was emerging from my second (and probably last) post-partum fog. My goals were starting to change too, as I gradually stopped feeling I had So Much To Prove with respect to running, and I told Shaffiee at the start of 2018 that I was ready to learn to let go and make my goal the enjoyment of the process of getting better at my favourite distance, the half-marathon. (Sounds so heong but I'm just another Weekend Warrior, trying to get better. I roll my eyes at myself and the sentiments I am expressing in this post BUT I WANT TO WIN A BLENDER) Anyhow, just because I decided to let go of my motherhood induced hang-ups about running didn't mean that I didn't still want to try to #BeatMyBest . And the only way to #BeatYourBest , I've learnt, is consistency and commitment. Training when you don't feel like it, when you're already fatigued from the morning's run, and all you want to do is lie down on the mats of suspect cleanliness or sit down and have a cup of tea with your PT on the definitely-not-clean fake turf. .
