Children from as young as 6 years old got to learn about the 50-30-20 rule as a way of managing their money. They were attending a workshop on money sense for juniors conducted by volunteers from Republic Polytechnic’s Investment & Finance Interest Group. Besides simple budgeting skills, the children also learnt concepts of money and how to differentiate between needs and wants. One child’s takeaway was, “I will watch what I spend and save more money so I don’t become broke.” Volunteer Flora Ng shared, “Financial literacy needs to be taught from young so that children will learn the value of saving up for the future. One thing that parents can do is to teach their children how to save some of their pocket money.” The attendees were beneficiaries from our services including tuition programme and student care centre. After learning new skills, they enjoyed fun station games planned by the volunteers. Thank you volunteers from RP SMC - Common Business Programme - CBP for inculcating good financial habits in our children! 😀 #volunteer #volunteering
