This year, because of the pandemic many people will be unable to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival under the same roof. So at Shangri-La we want to help evoke the true meaning of this festive holiday and give recognition and support to those who continue to be impacted by separation. We want to share some of the inspiring stories from our dedicated team members, whose talent and creativity help deliver each Shangri-La guest experience. Today we focus on Canny, our Service Manager from our flower shop. 🌺 "2019 marks the year I joined Shangri-La Singapore as a Flower Shop Service Manager. Ever since then, I have not been able to fly back to visit my family in Taiwan due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. During this period, I try to stay in close contact and catch up with them through daily video calls. My family would also send me photos of all my favourite food from my hometown (Tai Tung) and take me on scenic virtual drives to all the places I hold close to my heart. Back here in Singapore, I am thankful to be blessed with extremely welcoming colleagues who often bring me on shopping sprees and food trips for local Singaporean food. It is their company that helps to ease the homesickness and keeps me going! Due to the travel bans, this Mid-Autumn Festival will be slightly different. Instead of having an actual barbeque feast back at the front porch of my home, my family plans to have virtual barbeque feast and I can’t wait for it! Although we may be miles apart, it comforts me to know that we are all appreciating the same moon. Looking forward to the day I can reunite with my loved ones again!"
