In response to COVID-19’s challenges since early 2020, grassroots leaders and residents have emerged to champion renewed ways where we can stay in touch and united. Similarly, ground initiatives such as job interview sessions at CCs help foster employer-employee bonds at a community level to combat the impact COVID-19 has had on Singapore’s employment scene. Ms Becky Eng, the Founder of NannyPro , shares how pivotal it is to communicate with employees or prospective employees, “Finding the right fit to help parents through their caregiving journey is very important as our Nannies care for very young children.” Becky will be looking to meet new prospective employees as a participating employer at the SGUnited Jobs & Skills @ Bukit Batok CC this Friday (18 Sep). Becky shares that it remains challenging for her business to work with COVID-19 restrictions, “The situation poses new difficulties in getting the team together for training. Nonetheless, we found new ways to overcome such as partially taking our trainings to virtual platforms like Zoom.” NannyPro previously had success in finding talent at another community initiative in Bukit Batok, Our Home (武吉巴督,我们的家园) last year; Becky plans on leveraging this Friday’s session to continue maintaining a roster of talent. The SGUnited Jobs & Skills @ Bukit Batok CC is organised by Employment & Employability Institute, e2i who continues to work with the People’s Association on community career initiatives at CCs across Singapore. Having founded NannyPro with her mother on Mother’s Day 2004 in celebration of the unconditional love between parent and child, Becky has built her business to be a social enterprise alongside being a cradle care agency and licensed Ministry of Manpower employment agency. She describes her vision for continuing to work with the community, “We hope to empower women from the vulnerable families with the skills to be meaningful and gainfully employed, thus also improving their well-being and place in society.” Bukit Batok residents looking for new career opportunities can register (pre-registration required) for the session here: https://event.e2i.com.sg/web/BBCC18Sep . Other career seekers can check out https://e2i.com.sg/events/ for employment sessions at CCs and other venues across Singapore. #LiveLifeWithPA
